The first Saturday of 2016 to see both teams take the field finished with the Wasps coming out on top in both games.

The first team hosted Lucas Cwmbran and although rusty picked up a valuable win. The scoring was opened by a beauty of a goal from Matthew Edward, picking the ball up from a throw in and rifling a half volley past the helpless keeper from fully 40 yards. Although clearly the better side, it took until midway through the second half to extend the lead. Jordan Jones buried a penalty after a harsh looking handball from the Lucas centre half, and followed it up with his second to leave a seemingly unassailable lead. The following few minutes though saw the team contrive to give away two awful goals to make the game far closer than it should have been. It was down to Edward to finish the game, his close range header a fitting end to the game.

The second team travelled to Pontypool Town and returned with a great victory. Zack Baker added to his tally for the season, Jack Price added a second and substitute Ieuan Norman for the second time this season grabbed the winner in a 3-2 success. A good pair of victories that sees the firsts consolidate their fourth position and the seconds sit in a creditable fifth. No game for the seconds next week, while the first team again play the host, welcoming Mathern to the Rec.
