The weekends fixtures were both looking good through Saturday morning, only for the sudden downpours over lunchtime seeing both the Rec and Sebastapols Alexandra Road ground become rapidly unplayable. The first team though did have another game to look forward to; their away game against Tredegar Athletic being rearranged for Tuesday night at the neutral venue of Ebbw Vales Eugene Cross Park.

On a heavy pitch and in freezing conditions the Wasps struggled to get into the first half. With passes misplaced and errors creeping in, it was no surprise when the "hosts" took the lead mid way through the half. With only sporadic attacks forthcoming the equaliser was a bolt from the blue and couldn't have been better timed. After drawing a foul on the corner of the box, Jace Williams stepped up to bend a perfectly placed free kick into the bottom corner of the net with the last kick of the half. That strike was the catalyst to a much improved second half showing. With space on the large stadium pitch opening up, both sides sought to gain an advantage but neither could breach the opposition defence. Jordan Powell struck the post with a shot while Tredegar saw a header cleared off the line by 16 year old Tom York on his first team debut, just part of an excellent showing from the youngster. Although the visitors had the better of the second half, the draw was a fair result, though a score that possibly favours both sides opponents for promotion more than the clubs themselves.

This weekend sees the firsts look to get back to winning ways with another trip to Ebbw Vale to take on Cwm, while the seconds host the second Llanelly Parish derby of the season as they entertain Gilwern and District.
