Not only was it the change of fixtures that saw a change in the original plans, the results this weekend similarly were not what was originally hoped for.

The first team took on Fairfield Utd on Friday night, under the lights at Abertillery 3G pitch. On a cold and wet evening, the first half turned into a damp squib for the Wasps. With too many passes going astray, the 'hosts' took advantage of their pressure and took the lead midway through the half. The second half though saw a much improved performance, with Clydach seemingly getting the better of play, and finally being rewarded by Jordan Jones grabbing a deserved equaliser. With Fairfields pace up front making them dangerous on the break, it was one of their sharp attacks that changed the game. With Clydach scrambling the ball clear for a corner, it was some slack marking that saw an unchallenged header from Utds midfielder that won the points. A doubly disappointing night that saw not only a loss but one of our closest opponents for promotion gaining a lead on us with games in hand. Although not out of the race yet, it's going to have to be done the hard way if at all.

Saturday saw the second team host Sebastopol in the hope of continuing their winning run, as stop/start as it has been. Unfortunately they could not grab all three points, but saw a 0-0 draw at least mean their unbeaten results continue. Hopefully it will not be another month before their next game now, starting with the return fixture next Saturday. It gets no easier for the first team either, as they host current league leaders RTB Ebbw Vale.
