Both teams were in cup action this weekend, and although neither gave performances to be overly pleased with, the first team did at least progress. Welcoming Third Division Sudbrook C.C. To the Rec, the Wasps put in one of their worst performances in a long time. In a disjointed and sloppy first period the visitors opened the scoring and had the better of the play, the home side being indebted to another outstanding goalkeeping performance from David Pearce to keep them in the game. The second half though saw a resolute and determined effort as the win was ground out despite the opposition goalkeeper also producing a couple of excellent saves of his own. Jordan Jones drew the Wasps level and it was his unselfish set up of Matthew Edward that provided the winner. A poor performance but ultimately it was fitness and hard work that saw the team over the finish line.

Fresh off the back of their opening win of the season, the second team hand been handed the tough trip to the early Gwent Central pace setters Pontypool Town in the first round of the Open Cup. Top scorer Zach Baker notched another, but unfortunately the league leaders where too strong on their own field and replied with five goals of their own. The young side have a tough looking run of fixtures but hopefully they will continue their development and be able to turn performances into points.

Next up, the first team welcome Fairfield Utd while the seconds are back in Pontypool as the visit Cwmffrwdoer Sports.
