The third game of the season turned into a goal fest as the firsts took a point in a 4-4 draw with Mathern. The hosts have a great set up and surely the best playing surface in the Gwent County, and that led to a wide open attacking game by both sides. The hosts opened the scoring from a disputed penalty for handball. The equaliser though was pretty spectacular as Jace Williams drove the ball into the net from thirty yards. Mathern retook the lead but were pegged back again by a great piece of skill by Jordan Jones as he danced through the defence before slipping the ball past the keeper.

The second half was just as open with both sides attacking at will. Jones grabbed his second with an even better goal than his first, beating four or five defenders as he dribbled into the box before another well placed finish into the bottom corner. Mathern equalised a short time later, and then scored a fourth. Almost immediately though Williams grabbed his second and the final goal of the game with another well worked goal. With chances coming and going for both sides the game could have gone either way, but on the balance of play, a point apiece was about right. The side now move on to Tuesday nights trip to Cromwell Youth.
