Time to catch up after a couple of weeks without a post.

The first team wrapped up 2015 with a fantastic away victory at the league leaders, Spencer Youth, coming out on top in a ten goal thriller in tricky conditions. Defenders Ali Paton and Lee Brown showed their ariel prowess to score, Jordan Jones added to his tally for the year, Darryl Tippings making a cameo also got on the score sheet, but Jace Williams two strikes capped the performance. Both were almost identical, firing in from fully forty yards both times to seal a 6-4 win.

The new year opened with the home game against Ynysddu Welfare being washed out, but the following week saw the return contested on Pontllanfraith 3G. In monsoon like conditions it was an excellent second half display that saw the Wasps come froma goal down to take the points with a 3-1 victory. Jason Powell came off the bench to curl in a delightful free kick, before fellow sub Amos Hall powered home a header to take the lead. The win was sealed when captain Marc Taylor fired home from an angle. That victory pushes the team into the top five for the first time this season with hopefully a push for the upper reaches on the cards.

Unfortunately, the second team have not been able to take the field since the first week of December. Last Saturday saw them welcome Usk Town to the Rec, with only a massive downpour in the hour before kick off leaving the referee no option but to abandon the game without a ball being kicked. Hopefully this weekend will see them finally get back on track as they host P.I.L.C.S. The first team should be heading to Fairfield Utd, but the wintery conditions make that a doubtful proposition.
