A Triple Triple

Posted by Gareth Weed on Sunday, September 27, 2015,
For the first time this season the club enjoyed a six point Saturday, with not only both teams picking up victories but also three players collecting hattricks.

The first team travelled to Pontypool to take on Sebastapol on their small and problematic pitch. Jason Powell opened the scoring with a screamer from left back, but the lead wasn't held long as the hosts equalised from a corner. Again the visitors went ahead, this time from the spot as Jordan Jones fired home, and as before, the home...

Rolling Back The Years

Posted by Gareth Weed on Sunday, September 20, 2015,
With what looked like a tough draw against a side from a division higher and players missing fromTuesday nights team it looked like the FAW Trophy Round Two match with Marshfield would be a tricky proposition. As it turned out, the Wasps put in one if the clubs finest performances in recent years, and could, maybe should have won by an even bigger margin.

Captain Marc Taylor opened the scoring with his first of the season, stealing in unmarked to head home after a quick free kick. While the vi...

Tuesday Night Lights

Posted by Gareth Weed on Tuesday, September 15, 2015,
With both clubs in FAW Trophy action this Saturday, our trip to RTB Ebbw Vale was brought forward and as an added bonus saw the game played under lights on Eugene Cross Park. The first half saw both sides utilising the wide open spaces to play good, attacking football. The Wasps took the lead with another great individual goal from Jordan Jones, beating three players before firing low into the net from the edge of the box. The home side came back quickly though with a towering far post header...

Who Saw That Coming?

Posted by Gareth Weed on Sunday, September 13, 2015,
The first team took what is usually a tricky trip to Lucas Cwmbran, but returned with the three points following a resounding 8-2 victory. Jordan Jones hit a hat-trick while Jace Williams grabbed two, the front two now standing on eight goals apiece from eight games. Lee Brown added two himself from an unaccustomed midfield position while Matthew Edward bagged the final goal. They'll be looking to take this good form into Tuesday nights visit to RTB Ebbw Vale.

The seconds unfortunately fell to...

Unbeaten Run Comes To An End

Posted by Gareth Weed on Sunday, September 6, 2015,
All good things must come to an end, and so the first teams unbeaten run was stopped by a very good Neuadd Wen side. There was nothing to choose between the two sides in the first half, two goals by Jace Williams being cancelled out by two from the visitors, but they stepped up a gear in the second half to take a 4-2 victory. Although a decent performance it was not enough against an experienced team who look like they will be challenging at the end of their season at this level.

The second te...

Points Dropped

Posted by Gareth Weed on Wednesday, September 2, 2015,
Still unbeaten, but after a poor performance it was a case of two points dropped rather than a point gained in the 2-2 draw with Cefn Fforest. The visitors opened the scoring after a swift and precise counter attack, but the Wasps were soon level following a Jordan Jones penalty, after he had been brought down by the opposition goalkeeper. After a break in play due to a nasty looking injury to Charlie Lewis-Prosser, his replacement Connor Flook scored with his first touch. The home side thoug...
