Weekend Prieview

Clydach Wasps A v Panteg

With no first team game this weekend, the player shortage of last weekend should not affect the club on Saturday. The second team will look to get back to winning ways with a home game against Panteg. The team has suffered a big blow as captain Kyle Cheshire becomes a long term injury victim, but hopefully will be able to raise themselves from last weeks defeat. Panteg currently sit dead centre in the league having won four but lost three, while last weekend saw them r...

Clydach Wasps v Lliswerry
The Wasps will be looking to make it a magnificent seven this Saturday as they entertain Lliswerry. It won't be easy, as a number of players being unavailable will make for a changed side. Kristian Lewis returns from injury, but the loss of Roddy Arnold, Colin Evans, Marc Taylor and others will test the squads resources. These are the types of weekends that test potential title candidates, and those remaining will be looking to pick up another three valuable point...

Clydach Wasps v Carnetown
After a first round bye in the FAW Trophy, the Wasps welcome Carnetown of the South Wales Amateur First Division to the Recreation Ground this Saturday. The Wasps will be bolstered by top scorer James Hapgoods return from suspension, while Kristian Lewis has been training this week and may be in contention for a squad place. Our opponents have had a mixed start to the season; two wins a draw and three defeats leave them in the bottom half of the table, but no complace...

Blaenavon Blues v Clydach Wasps / Clydach Wasps A v Blaenavon Blues A

This weekend sees the odd occurrance of a double header between one of our local rivals. The first team travel to the Co-op Field, just a few weeks before the Blues transfer to their new base on the outskirts of the town. After last weeks disappointing cup exit they'll be looking to make amends, though it will not be an easy task. The Blues had a week off last saturday with a bye in the County Motors Cup, and have had an up ...

Clydach Wasps A v Cwmffrwdoer
The seconds picked up a good victory at the weekend over New Inn and will be looking to add to their points tally with the visit of Cwmffrwdoer to the Recreation Ground this wednesday. The visitors failed to raise a side for thier weekend fixture with Fairfield, so you have to assume they will be making up the numbers with their Gwent County side, meaning a tricky test for the Wasps. With captain Kyle Cheshire returning and manager Giles Prosser having the pick of...

Weekend Preview

Posted by Gareth Weed on Friday, September 4, 2009, In : Match Previews
For the first time this season the clubs three sides will be in action this saturday. The firsts travel to Mardy Fields for the first round of the County Motors Cup. Matches against Mardy are rarely easy, and with the added spice of a place in the next round of the cup up for grabs this game should be no different, regardless of league form. Mardy have struggled a little so far this season but have recorded a good victory away to Undy Athletic and will certainly be ready for our visit.

The s...
